Ghost Of Girlfriend’s Future

I have no idea how, when, or why it happened but somewhere along the boyhood road of life I stopped believing girls were gross 😛   …  but then I passed through my dating years (my Twenties) and I’ve returned to believing girls are gross … well, most of them, not all. The women actually.

Just kidding; guys aren’t exactly perfect either, and certainly could use a few more baths and teeth brushing.

Hormones really do screw up a male’s mind though. One year you’re running around the school yard seriously wondering what “girly cooties” are and if they’re dangerous, but then you return the next September, after a Summer break, and for some stupid reason you’re hoping-and-praying-and-wishing your teacher’s seat plan lets you sit next to the pretty girl in class.

Character sketch (pre-digital painting)

This is a sketch for a digital painting I’m going to try. Tablets are a good tool but unless you can define some style all your own, as naturally occurs when artists work directly with natural materials (paper, canvas, board, brushes, pencils, etc), then the artist risks being elbowed out in favor of the tablet’s default expressions.

Creating your own style isn’t always easy, (which is why we have plagiarism and remakes of older successful times) so an artist must push themselves, push the materials, the expression, and risk failure to seek success. These words are pretty grandiose for a simple sketch but I am always reminded of Paul Gaugin’s words, “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.” …. Keep creating to achieve your best artwork!

Oak Tree (digital painting)

Sorry no comic for this week; I didn’t have time between other things. In it’s place I’ve uploaded a low resolution digital “sketch/painting” I completed for a children’s book submission I’m sending off to publishers.

I hope it doesn’t take forever to download every time :-/

Strike Uno!

As usual, Conrad fulfilled his own self prophecy for failure. Poor lil’ guy.

MISSED UPDATE MONDAY: Yesterday my girlfriend had highway accident. We were in Emergency ward all day. 18-wheeler hit her twice (side and rear (not shown)). Luckily she is out now. I may not be able to update next week as we know have to find time to buy another car. Thanks for your patience.
